Coming up through the ranks is often the best way to learn a business especially the entertainment biz.

Lee Gatch, a lifelong music fan, began his professional musical career as a roadie for KC and the Sunshine Band''s World Comeback Tour in 1993. It was in that capacity that he began his association with the music industry.

After touring the world for a couple of years, Lee had worked his way up to Assistant Tour Manager. Mr. Mel Haber (KCSB''s business manager) saw possibilities in the young man and soon after, offered him the opportunity to learn the business side of music.

Throughout the ''90s, Lee assisted Haber in all aspects of the music business from management and contracts to music and video productions to promotions, touring, international licensing, royalty collections, publishing rights and overseeing numerous recording projects.

While working with such artists as MDO (formerly Menudo), Tito Puente, Jr., George McCrae, Jimmy Bo Horne, and Timmy Thomas. Gatch also earned an Associates Degree from Miami-Dade College and continued his studies at Florida International University.

Toward the end of the decade, entrepreneurship was sweeping the country, and Lee ventured off and formed his own record/production company. After two years in such a competitive, money-driven business, lack of finances forced him to close down. But the experience of running his own record company taught Lee his most important and lasting career lesson -- the importance of a great team and maintaining good business relations!

Fortunately, Lee''s long-time associates, Uncle Mel and KC, knew that his passionate enthusiasm for music combined with a natural ear for great songs and an instinct for what the market wanted next were valuable assets so the three of them formed C&G Artist Management.

Currently, Mr. Gatch is the Vice-President of C&G Artist Management, a joint partnership with KC & Mel Haber.  He principally seeks, signs, and handles creative development of new & established talent.  Among C&G''s talent, is the multi-platinum group "No Mercy."   Additionally, he continues to act as KC & the Sunshine Band''s Assistant Business Manager assisting with all day-to-day management operations while acting as the chairman of the First Annual "Star Island Gala" as an executive committee member of the Film, Recording and Entertainment Council.
